The final piece to the puzzle in becoming a greaser is the way you act. Greasers are proud of who they are. On page 132 Ponyboy says, "...put on more hair oil than necessary, but we wanted to show that we were greasers...we could be proud of it." Also, greasers tend to be high spirited to contrast their toughness. According to Ponyboy, Sodapop, his brother, was,"...always happy-go-lucky and grinning...Sodapop'll never grow up at all."(2). The polar opposite of Sodapop would be Dally. Dally was described on page 10 as,"...tougher than the rest of us- tougher, colder, and meaner."
